Kiss-mas cookies!
Hey readers! This is Harry Potter! I’m super excited about this post because not only is it our very first holiday themed recipe, but actually my very own first post. I’ve been a bit busy at Hogwarts recently, so I haven’t got around to writing up a recipe. But, with the holidays, I finally got a chance, and I’m thrilled.
Now, I meant to post this recipe a while ago, since it was Christmas. But I didn’t get time, since I was spending the holidays with James and Frodo. We went to the Shire; Uncle Bilbo had decorated everything for the holidays. It was incredibly picturesque! Maybe not as elaborate as Hogwarts is around the holidays but much cozier. And of course I adore time spent with my brothers! It’s been a while since I’ve seen them both. I get letters from Frodo a lot, but James Bond not quite as much. But only because he’s so busy training to be a 007 agent, and he can’t put much in correspondence without it getting redacted.
We were all thrilled to see each other for Christmas! We baked a lot of things for the holidays, but we wanted to share one recipe in particular that I made on Christmas Eve.
These cookies are wonderful. They’re a doughy peanut butter cookie sprinkled in sugar. They puff up wonderfully, and the sugar lightly dusted on them reminds one of snow, a nice nod to the season. But what truly brings these cookies together are the kiss candies placed in their center! A pillar of chocolate, they rise from the center of peanut buttery warmness.

If you really think about it, it’s a bit strange that they’re associated with Christmas. I’m not really sure why, but they’re seasonal nonetheless.
Anyway, I’ve quite excited to share these. They’re a particular favorite of mine, and I always make sure to bake them around this season. I usually bake them earlier in the season, but I was a bit busy with some weird things at Hogwarts. There’s this weird beast thing wandering around my school, and no one’s quite sure what it is or how its getting around. It’s actually a very unfortunate problem. My friends and I thought we knew who was doing it, and we concocted a whole elaborate scheme to find out and everything, which is why I’ve been so busy. I was going to publish the Polyjuice Potion recipe on here (it turns you into someone else! Quite thrilling!), but my friend Hermione said that was incriminating (it was a secret and not so legal plan…). And anyway, it tasted horrible. But it was necessary to try and find out who was doing it, because it’s a very serious time around here at Hogwarts. Several people have been attacked! But who wants to hear about that during Christmas?
Everyone at the Bomb Factory has always loved it most around Christmas. It’s hard to feel sad when the place is decked in lights and all dressed up in Christmas cheer. I hope this recipe brings you the same kind of seasonal cheer that it brings us at the Bomb Factory!
How to make Kiss-mas Cookies:
First, heat your oven to 375ยบ F. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking soda. Add the melted butter and peanut butter and mix until smooth. The mixture will look very dry and crumbly–don’t worry, it’s supposed to look like that!

It is especially important that you take the time to melt the butter, as this will prevent the cookie from spreading out too much in the oven. If you prefer a flatter cookie, you are welcome to mix in room-temperature butter, but with melted butter, you are left with deliciously small and puffy cookies that the kiss can really sink into.
Next, add the sugars and beat until the batter becomes light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla (and a little extra vanilla, if you like!) and mix until smooth.

Use a tablespoon to scoop out balls of dough, rolling each in sugar for that extra sweet taste. Place two inches apart on a cookie sheet, and bake for 8 minutes. If you have individually wrapped chocolate kisses, you can use this time to unwrap an exact number of them for the cookies on the baking sheet.

Immediately after the cookies come out of the oven, place a kiss on the top of each one. When you place the kiss in the cookie, be careful not to press it in too hard. Since your cookies have just come out of the oven, if you press really hard, the kiss will melt and pool around the cookie. The original recipe before we got our hands on it actually calls for you to put the newly kiss-ed cookies back in the oven for two more minutes. I never noticed that! I’m not quite sure what would happen, to be honest, but I suspect the kisses would get a lot meltier and the cookies a lot crispier–not quite to my tastes, but to each their own!
Once they come out of the oven, these cookies will be very soft and goopy, so you will definitely need to let them sit out on a cooling rack and set a bit before you store them.
And there you go! Good old Bomb Factory Kiss-mas cookies!

This recipe makes a lot of cookies, so be careful of that. You can halve the recipe if you’re interested in making less. And these cookies taste fantastic without the kisses as well–if you want some plain old peanut butter cookies, this recipe can be easily and deliciously adapted for that purpose!

Ingredients:
- 2 2/3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2/3 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Additional Sugar (for rolling the cookies in)
- 5 dozen Hershey kisses, unwrapped
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Then, in a large bowl, mix dry ingredients: flour, salt, and baking soda. Then, add melted butter and peanut butter and mix until mixture is smooth. Add sugars (white and brown) and beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
Make balls with tablespoons of dough. Then, roll in sugar.
Bake 2 inches apart on cookie sheet for 8 minutes.
Remove from the oven, adding one kiss to each cookie.
