Flax Eggs

Flax Eggs

Hello Bomb Factory readers! I know I just posted something the other day, but Harry asked me to do a quick post on flax eggs. Apparently he’s got another post in the works and wanted to link to a flax egg recipe.

He asked me today if I would do a recipe, so, since I’m not really busy this summer, I thought I’d post it really quick.

Flax eggs are used as a substitute for eggs in vegan recipes. There are other eggs substitutes, but I’m particularly fond of flax eggs. They’re super simple to make, and they have flax seeds, which are super healthy as well. So it’s nice to be able to incorporate them into desserts. And I just love flax eggs! They’re just really satisfying to me.

The recipe is simple! So without further ado, I’ll describe the recipe for one egg. If your recipe requires more than one egg, just mix the extra ingredients in the same bowl.

For one egg:

  • 1 tablespoon of flax seeds
  • 3 tablespoons of water

Start with 1 tablespoon of flax seeds. Ground them up, then mix them up with three tablespoons of water. Mix these together, then refrigerate for about fifteen minutes. When they’re done, they should have the consistency of a normal egg. If you’re going to bake something with flax eggs, it helps to do this first, so you can get started baking while your flax eggs refrigerate.

Here’s the final product! You can see the consistency your fake egg should have; lifting part of it up has the same result as if you’d done it to a real egg.
